Mercado Libre adds new projects in Colombia. The platform this week opened the doors of a new Center for Technology, Innovation and Product, based in Medellín, and completes three development spaces in the country: two in Medellín and one in Bogotá.
For the operation of this new technology center, Mercado Libre creates about 400 new vacancies to operate in alternation format with remote and face-to-face work sessions. This space seeks to improve the offer of user experience throughout the region with innovation and 24/7 service.
Medellín continues to consolidate itself as the technology hub of Colombia and the region, headquarters of the first Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Latin America, a project endorsed and presented at the 2019 session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
For the remainder of this year, Mercado Libre will also open two new “cross dock” centers in the country: one in Medellín and the other in Cali, with the aim of increasingly improving its logistics capacity.
In addition to its advances in technology and logistics, Mercado Libre with its financial subsidiary Mercado Pago, reached an average of 8.8 million transactions in the first period of the year, that is, more than 97,000 daily transactions on average. The country already weighs 4% of the total business in the region.
