Fashion spending by Colombian households increased in June

Fashion spending in Colombia registered a growth of 37% during the month of June 2021, compared to the same month of the previous year, according to official figures revealed by Raddar and Inexmoda. Throughout the month, fashion spending in Colombia reached 2.24 trillion pesos (about 589 million dollars).


The record for the month of June 2021 reveals a 9% growth in fashion spending by Colombian households, compared to the sixth month of 2019, which indicates the continuity of the recovery, with growth 18 months after the start of the pandemic.

In this way, the accumulated spending on fashion from January to June 2021 amounted to 12.96 billion pesos (about 3.45 billion dollars at the exchange rate of the day), that is, 26% more than that registered in the same period of 2020 and 4% more than the first half of 2019.

Colombian exports of textiles and clothing, meanwhile, accumulated sales of 347 million dollars from January to June, 44% more than in the same period of 2020, but 4% less compared to the same period of 2019.

Meanwhile, Colombian imports of textiles and clothing registered a turnover of 1069 million dollars between January and June of this year, a growth of 25% compared to the same period of 2020 and 2% more than that registered between January and June 2019 .

The economy continues on the path of recovery and reaches stability compared to the previous year, as well as compared to 2019. It is estimated that the second half of the year will continue with the same rhythm in the sector.
