Adidas develops golf shoes from recycled materials

With its ZG21 product family, Adidas launched high-performance and lightweight golf shoes on the market at the beginning of the year. The sporting goods manufacturer is now adding the ZG21 Motion model, which is made from recycled materials, to this collection.

“The ZG21 really fills a void we’ve seen in the industry for lightweight spike shoes and we’ve only had positive feedback on its design,” said Masun Denison, global director of footwear at Adidas Golf. “We wanted to push the envelope and see what could be done to use more sustainable materials without compromising performance.”

For the more sustainable model, Adidas has developed a technical mesh upper that is supposed to offer comfort, stability and protection at the same time. This mesh textile upper consists of at least 50 percent recycled materials and is waterproof.

Together with the ZG21 Motion, Adidas is also introducing the ZG21 Motion Boa, a new golf shoe for men and women. In addition to the technical textile upper, which is partly made from recycled materials, this new silhouette offers a higher cut design and a sock-like opening for additional stability.

All ZG21 Motion models have the most important innovations of the original model: Lightstrike, Ultra-Llight Stability Fin, Boost cushioning in the heel and the Swingplane Traction outsole.

The ZG21 Motion is now available in the Adidas online shop, its own app and from selected retail partners around the world.
